Improvement Scheme and Design Guidelines

The public comment period for the draft Ocean Reef Marina Improvement Scheme is now closed.

Following approval of the Metropolitan Region Scheme (MRS) amendment and Gazettal of an Improvement Plan late last year, the WA Planning Commission (WAPC) prepared an Improvement Scheme to facilitate the delivery of the long-awaited Ocean Reef Marina.

An Improvement Scheme is an alternative to traditional planning frameworks and is specifically designed for complex and strategic projects. It allows planning to be tailored to the challenges and opportunities of a specific site, rather than being restricted by a generic, state-wide framework.

The WAPC public comment period on the Ocean Reef Marina Improvement Scheme was open from 19 March until 26 June 2020. You can still view the Improvement Scheme and supporting documents on the DPLH website.

If approved, the Improvement Scheme will replace the Metropolitan Region Scheme in this location while the project is being developed. It will allow the Ocean Reef Marina project to achieve the best outcomes for the community.
